Steps to Port Health Insurance Online
The steps to apply for health insurance portability online are outlined below:
Step 1: Submit a portability request to the health insurance company you wish to switch to at least 45 days before your current policy is set to renew.
Step 2: Upon receiving your portability request, the new insurer will send you a proposal and portability forms, along with information about the plans they offer.
Step 3: Choose the health plan you want to port to and return the completed proposal and portability forms to the new insurer.
Step 4: Once all forms are received, the new insurer will contact your previous insurer to obtain details such as your claim history and medical records. They can also retrieve this information from the IRDAI's website.
Step 5: The existing insurer is required to provide all requested information through the IRDAI's common data-sharing portal within 7 working days. If there is a delay in sharing this information, the new insurer may postpone the decision on your porting request.
Step 6: After all information is received, the new insurer will make a decision to accept or reject your portability request within 15 days. If they do not make a decision within this timeframe, they must accept your portability application.
